MEDICAL CITY DALLAS
Communication Services
Telephone Services

MCDL provides “one-stop shopping” for all your telephone needs. It is not mandatory to use the MCDL phone system; however, 95% of the tenants have chosen to do so because of the following:

Selecting your Phone Number & 4-Digit Dialing on Campus
Medical City “owns” the entire “(972) 566” prefix and will furnish you with a list of phone numbers from which to choose. Once selected, the number is reserved for you so that you can begin printing office literature. Having a Medical City phone number allows tenants to dial anywhere in the MCD campus by using 4-digits. This also allows others on campus to contact you with 4-digit dialing.

Equipment for your Office
At Medical City, tenants do not have to incur the capital expense of purchasing a phone and/or voice mail system because the phone service is provided from the “central phone switch” owned by Medical City. Therefore, the tenant does not have to allocate space within the suite to accommodate or bear the cost of:

  • Central wiring point and common control phone equipment
  • Allocating staff to administer the system
  • Costs of maintenance
  • Equipment warranty
  • Traffic monitoring to ensure the system has sufficient capacity
  • Upgrades on the common phone switch

The telephone sets that are used on the Medical City Phone System are Avaya 8400 series digital telephones with Caller ID and 2/way speakers; ten button sets for the average user and 34-button sets for the high user. Tenants may “lease” the telephone sets for $13.50 per month or purchase them. The 10-button sets average $150; the 34-button sets are $350.

Technical Support
The main phone equipment or switch is monitored 24/7, at no charge to the tenants. A major advantage of being on the Medical City Phone System is having on-site phone technicians available for repairs, moves, software changes, etc. For phone repairs, the phone technician generally responds within minutes of the initial call. There are no “trip” charges or hourly rate technician fees for repairs. Moves and software charges generally range between $15.00 and $45.00 per set. Adding and moving phones is simplified by making a phone call to a single point of contact at ext. 7334 or ((972) 566-7334).

System Back-Up
The Medical City Phone System has duplicate processors to protect the system from failure or interruption of services. Likewise, there is extensive battery backup and generators should there be a power outage.

Wiring
Most of the existing offices are already wired for service from the Medical City phone switch. If you are leasing a “shell” space, MCDL will furnish a quote to you for wiring both voice and data drops.

Training
Because the tenant does not purchase an entire phone system, there is very little training required for the staff. An MCDL staff member will train the staff on features and usage of the phone sets. That person is available to provide daily assistance with questions or to resolve any problems. There is no additional charge to the tenant for these services.

Monthly charges
Tenants are not charged the typical “per line cost” at Medical City. Users are charged an “access” fee for each “port” used in the Medical City phone switch. Every phone set or fax location constitutes a “port” with a charge of $28.00 per month. Charging for the service this way allows each phone set to have its’ own phone number and multiple appearances on each phone for $28.00 per month, per phone or fax. For example, if you have seven phones and two fax lines, your monthly access fee will be $28.00 x 9. Yet, you could have as many as 72 lines for incoming or outgoing calls!

Auto Attendant and Voice Mail
Auto Attendant is available for main number use so as to answer and direct calls within your office. Voice mail is available on individual station numbers. Both services are provided at no additional cost to the tenant.

Call Forwarding
A feature of the phone system that is available at no additional cost to the tenant.

Phone Bill
Every month, tenants will receive a consolidated phone bill from MCDL for access fees, equipment lease (if any), and any long distance charges.

Long Distance
AT&T is the long distance provider at MCD.
